Here in Medellin, we celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a spectacular fireworks display, A LOT of fireworks. Every year on November 30th at midnight, the sky lights up with fireworks that people from all over the city come to see as a welcome to their favorite holiday season.
If you’re unfamiliar with this tradition, you might be surprised by the loud noises and bright lights. Some people even mistake the fireworks for gunshots and get scared. However, there’s no need to panic!
While some locals are against this tradition due to the potential harm it can cause to pets, you can still enjoy the festivities.
To make the most of the experience, you can use earplugs or noise-canceling headphones to block out the noise. Alternatively, you can listen to calming music to help you relax.
